“Without prayer, we can do nothing, for God provides for us and those we seek to serve” - Peter Bell, Head of Fundraising & Marketing

When we look at the many projects and work that Starfish is engaged with in Malawi, we can become overwhelmed with what we need to do to keep the work continuing and to provide for the hundreds of children and families that we are in contact with every day.

That is why it is essential that we all pray for the work and ask God to sustain every member of the team both in Malawi and the UK, so that they are able to be alert to what God is saying and to be encouraged that they are given the strength to continue to develop the work, so that many more children can be helped through our work and be shown the love of God through what we do.

There is so much to pray for and sometimes we receive news of desperate need such as lack of food due to a failing harvest, severe illness, floods, etc. At those times it is even more essential that we put the needs into the hands of our Father God.

We also need to take time to praise and thank God for what he has done and is doing among the communities that we serve.

You may be thinking that, “I am just one tiny voice, what difference could I make? Would the lack of my prayer really make a difference?”

“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” - Ephesians 6:18

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

Hebrews 12:1

Well yes it would, every prayer really counts!

In a running race every runner plays their part, whether the person wining gold or the one bringing up the rear in 1730th.!

Both the first and the last runner are equally as important, as they have joined together to produce an amazing athletic spectacle. To compete alongside one another had meaning for both. Each brought something that was of value.

This is the same as everyone taking time to pray, whether for 5 mins or an hour.

God will use every single second of prayer for His purposes!

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful” - Colossians 4:2
