Dear Friends and Supporters,
This month we want to share some good news about the solar power installation, testimonials from previous sponsored students, news from some of the annual reports and a few other items.
Without your support our work would be difficult to achieve. We thank God for His blessings in every aspect of the work which has seen so many amazing outcomes over the years helping hundreds of children and their families.
Maternity Facility
Solar power – we are overjoyed to be able to tell you that we now have a temporary solar power system installed at the maternity clinic. We are very grateful to Aftrak Ltd who empower rural communities with renewable energy and sustainable agriculture solutions.
Find out more about them here www.aftrak.com.
They have gifted us and installed 3 small solar arrays which will give enough power to run the equipment, lights and power sockets in the maternity facility.
This is a major step forward for the facility to be able to open.
Solar installation
Guardian’s shelter – we needed to provide a place for those who accompany the pregnant mothers to be able to rest and wait. This shelter has now been built and a toilet and shower block alongside it.
Student Sponsorship
Some of our sponsored secondary students are also sponsored through university. We are so grateful to those who do sponsor students through their secondary education and then through college or university.
Without your support they would not be given the opportunity to have a full education and then hopefully to start a career. When we receive letters from those students who have done well and have graduated, it brings joy to our heart.
Recently Lakina Milanzi has written to us, and we wanted to share some of what she has written so that you can understand how the sponsorship programme impacts lives.
“I write to express my gratitude for the continued education support throughout my tertiary education. I do not take it for granted that my bursary was extended after completing my secondary education to further cater for upkeep and transport costs during my 5 years academic journey at Mzuzu university.
In a special way, I wanted to say thank you to Starfish Malawi for 9 years of mentorship, financial support and spiritual covering. You have been the perfect bridge between myself as a student and my sponsors.
The letters, the gifts, I could not have asked for a better mediator other than Starfish. It is with a heart full of joy that I officially share with you that the little girl who came to your office on 14th October 2015 at the verge of dropping out due to lack of fees is now a graduate.
10 years have passed but it feels like just yesterday when I thought it was the end for me and dreams about to be shattered. Thank you for coming into my life and restoring hope, surely Christ is working through you.
My graduation was on 9th January 2026 and I received my Bachelor of Science in Optometry (Honours) with credit.
I will for ever be indebted to Starfish Malawi for the support rendered and the lessons learnt. I have learnt the spirit of giving whether I know the person am helping or not. The little I was obtaining from Starfish, I was able to share with my friends and hence forth I pledge to help others with my future earnings.”

News from Annual Reports
Each year we receive an annual report from all our projects. The full reports will be on the website soon but here are a few highlights from two projects.
Gateway
In 2025 we distributed a total of 1,814 kits to 28 primary schools
We received 1,205 knickers, 2,179 Bras, 536 soap bars from SALUT Malawi, for which we are very grateful.
It is evident that Gateway reusable sanitary kits are making a huge positive impact in the girls’ school attendance and with their confidence as well as participation in school activities like sports. The reports from teachers, girls themselves and also from absenteeism records bear this out.
Senga Bay school absence stats were 133 before receiving kits and 53 after kits distributed.

Bible Explorer
Is run by 4 full time presenters and 11 volunteers in 69 schools across Salima and currently the programme is reaching 14,000 learners annually.
3 new volunteers have been added to the team.
We received props and other teaching resources from Arabella Paul from the UK. These materials are helping in lesson deliveries and keeping the attention of the children focused.
Latifa is a 12-year-old standard 6 learner “The programme has helped me to accept Jesus as the Lord and my personal Saviour after learning what he went through to save our lives and with BX lessons I am beginning to know and understand the Bible easier, as our teachers demonstrate lessons with props and songs.”
